Chelsea legend, Michael Essien, has signed a one year contract with Indonesian club Persib Bandung after a short spell with Greece side, Panathinaikos. The midfield maestro who had been training with the Chelsea reserve team had been without a club for six months.Essien however turned down a move to play in Australia with Melbourne.
It is obvious Michael Essien is near the end of his career, and like most veterans, he has resorted to play in a less competitive league to bank in the cash.
Michael Essien remains in the book of Chelsea fc as a legend. He won the Champions league and two premier league titles with Chelsea during his eight years at the London club.
Michael Essien had a short spell with Real Madrid also, during JosÃ© Mourinho’s term. The bond between the Chelsea legend and now the coach of Manchester United was a family affair. Mourinho referred to Michael Essien as son, whiles Essien in turn called him daddy.
